Even More Snow

This is what it looked like this morning at eight. There is now close to a foot of snow. It snowed again last night. It isn't currently snowing, thank goodness. Eric expects to go to work this morning. They are prepping for Christmas and Christmas Eve at his restaurant. He has chains for his tires, in fact he's had them on his car since last Wednesday. I'm just hoping they've plowed the roads well. This picture was taken from our bedroom window.

This one was also taken from our bedroom window. I think all of this snow makes our backyard look magical.

It's 33 degrees outside right now. The next three pictures can be compared to the ones I took yesterday morning.

I'm going to start a fire in our fireplace when I'm done typing this. :)

Don't these pictures just look cold?

They say now that it's going to snow off and on until Friday. Of course, the weather man seems to change his mind daily as to how long the snow is going to last. Eric's younger brother, Jonathan is up here visiting from California. We have yet to be able to see him. I really wanted Mylie to get to see him. So far, we've been snow bound his entire visit and he leaves tomorrow. At least he's been able to visit with Erica's family and Ric's family.

I've been trying to upload a couple videos of Mylie walking in the snow, but have had no success. I really wanted to share them with you, but this site doesn't seem to be cooperating, sorry.

More Snow

Here's a picture of our tree and fireplace. Our tree is about seven feet tall, not including the tree topper. It doesn't look very tall in this picture. Mylie likes to touch the tree and the ornaments. Her favorite ornament seems to be a little drummer boy from my Grandma and Grandpa W. He plays music when you push a little button and Mylie thinks that we should make him play music every time we're near the tree. Mylie loves music. Thank goodness he plays five different songs, a bit of variety.

Around noon it started snowing again. Mylie stood on the window seat and watched it.

We took her outside and put her down. At first she wasn't quite sure, then she realized she could walk around in it where it had been compacted. She had quite a few layers on.

She fell down a few times. She seemed frustrated when she fell, not really upset, just frustrated.

We took a couple videos of Mylie walking in the snow. I hope to be able to post them soon.

Isn't She Smart?

These videos are just a few days old. Mylie can now correctly identify her nose, eyes, ears, mouth, belly, and hair. It's so cute.

See, I told you it was cute. :)

Mylie has two piglets, one from my Nina (Susan) and one from my brother. They are not identical twins. One is Piggy and the other is Piggy's brother, Hoggy. Mylie knows the difference between them. She goes to bed with them every night and at nap time too. They often go with us in the car too. She often gives them hugs and kisses. She also shares her binkie (pacifier) with Piggy. Apparently Hoggy doesn't use a binkie like she and Piggy do. Occasionally she even tries to feed them her snacks and let them drink her sippy. Sometimes this is accompanied by the sound effects "num num num". When Mallory was visiting she tried to give Mallory's water bottle to her stuffed dog, that was a first. Usually it's Hoggy, Piggy or even occasionally Elmo (Mylie calls him Melmo).

This Morning

I took these pictures less than five minutes ago. We got a good six to seven inches of snow last night. It's thirty-four degrees outside and has already started slowly melting. This is from the front porch.

Here are my footprints. The snow was up past my ankle.

You can't tell where the driveway meets the lawn.

Maybe we'll see if Mylie is interested in it. Last time we tried to put her down in the snow she looked at us like "what the heck, pick me up", we'll see if she likes it better today.

Mittens and Snow

Last Saturday I knit Mylie a pair of mittens. Last Sunday we went to get our Christmas tree. It was quite cold.

Look, Mylie let me put her hair in a little ponytail. Well, it only lasted 20 minutes, then she pulled the rubber band out. I wish she'd let me put her hair back, it is always in her face. This was last week.
This was last Sunday. Mylie had just got up from her nap. Eric took this picture of us standing in the snow. She didn't seem to mind the flakes landing on her head.

We have since gotten even more snow. It is Saturday night/Sunday morning and the snow has finally stopped for a while at least. We got quite a bit of snow this afternoon and evening. Mallory and Denise were up here visiting and left for home just in time. They left just before 47 Alaska Airlines flights were canceled due to snow in Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver, BC. We hope they enjoyed their visit as much as we did! It's supposed to snow off and on from now until Christmas.

A Small Town Christmas

Last Sunday, Eric, Eric's dad, Mylie and I went to the Key Peninsula Tree Lighting. We drove 15 minutes north to the town of Key Center for this event. It's like Rockefeller Center's tree lighting, only tiny and not as good. :) I wish I would have gotten some better pictures, but a lot of the pictures I took turned out blurry.

Here is the tree. This is before it lit up. It's a fir tree that is in the middle of town. Quite a few people were there. The whole thing started at 4pm.

Here are some of the people that were there. Most people were bundled up and drinking hot cocoa or coffee. We were drinking hot cocoa. There was a band playing and I think it was the fire chief that was leading us all in Christmas carols. There were quite a few wrong notes played by the band and sung by us all, but you could feel the Christmas spirit.
Santa arrived shortly after the tree was lit. He was in his sleigh/trailer-pulled-behind-a-red-pick-up. It was a little cheesy. Nothing like Santa's sleigh in Torrance.

We got in line with all of the other parents and kids so that Mylie could go see Santa. You should have seen the line. There were lots of excited kids. We were luckily toward the front of the line.

As If Walking Wasn't Enough

Yesterday she walked, today she climbed. She's been able to climb stairs for a while, but she has been trying to climb up onto this chair for weeks. She has tried at least once a day for the past two or three weeks to climb onto this chair. It wasn't until today at noon that she finally had success. I think our recliners are the lowest places to sit in our home. She still can't get up on any of the couches, but who knows, I could be blogging about that tomorrow. :) Oh, and Eric was here to see her climb. Now she just has to learn how to get down.

Walking

This afternoon Mylie and I looked out the window and found this deer munching on our lawn. -I think she looks pregnant. Deer aren't usually that plump.- She watched us for a while and we watched her for a while. I feel so fortunate to live somewhere where this is the norm.

She's walking! Mylie decided to walk this evening. She just took off. I knew this day was coming, but it seemed to happen all of the sudden. Here she is eating a snack and then taking a walk.

Here she is walking down the hallway. Eric was home so he got to see her walk. Although we're both excited that she's walking, we know that just means soon she'll be running. :)
