Ok, these pictures are from May. Sorry they're so late. In May Mylie started saying "dada" although not always directed toward Eric. She also started making raspberries.

A little late, but here are Mylie's seven month pictures.

So, I'm finally posting some new pictures. I've been meaning to update the blog, just haven't had the time. These pictures are mostly from a couple weeks ago. A few of Mylie when she wakes up and a few of playtime. Mylie is now playing peek-a-boo, it is so cute! She puts her little blanket or a burp cloth (whatever is closer) over her face, puts her hands down for a few seconds while I say "where's Mylie?" or "Mylie where are you?", then rips the blanket off and smiles big and of course I say "there you are" or "there's Mylie", it really is adorable. On Sunday, April 27th, we took Mylie to the park and she went in the swing for the first time. Also I couldn't help but include a cute "after bath" picture.

You may be wondering who the cute little blonde girl is that's holding Mylie in a couple pictures, this is her cousin Chloe. These pictures were taken a few weeks ago at a family birthday party. Chloe's mom, Melanie, was holding Mylie and Chloe walked up and asked if she could hold baby Mylie. Melanie told her she could if she sat down on the couch. So, Chloe sat down and held Mylie with a lot of supervision. Mylie was tired and ended up falling asleep in Chloe's arms, so Chloe started quietly singing her a lullaby, it was so sweet. Chloe then asked her mom if she could have baby Mylie for her birthday. Isn't that cute? Chloe's birthday was May 2nd, she turned three.

The last two pictures are of Eric's restaurant. Isn't it beautiful?

We've been keeping busy. Mylie has tried a few new foods since I last posted. She's eaten yellow squash, acorn squash, and zucchini. Soon she'll be trying carrots. It's funny, the first bite she always makes a face, it's like she's deciding whether or not to gag. She gets easily distracted when eating, so I find myself singing songs like: row, row, row your boat, to keep her attention, it seems to work. Whatever works, right?

Last Saturday we went to cousin Trevor's baseball game. Yes, Mylie actually has two cousin Trevors that play baseball and they are the same age, I think. Trevor played well, even if he didn't want to be the catcher. Mylie got to see bubbles for the first time. My mom blew some bubbles for her. I think she liked it.

On Sunday we took a walk around the cove. We tried out the new jogging stroller. A co-worker of my mom's gave us this jogging stroller and it's perfect for the terrain around our house. We even took it on the beach so Mylie could get a first look at the ocean, well, the Puget Sound. We even saw a very small tsunami, we got it on video. Yes, a tsunami, you read that correctly.

Last night Eric showed Mylie how to make some noise and she loved it. She loves music.

As promised, here are some pictures of Mylie and I at the zoo. We went with some friends and had a great time. Mylie loved looking at all of the kids at the zoo, she paid more attention to them, than the animals. We tried to get her to look at the elephants, there was one right in front of her, but because it wasn't moving, she didn't even notice it. She did however notice the monkeys, her little eyes just lit up as the monkeys moved around. She also watched the otters and the beluga whale, there is an area where you can watch them swim in their tanks through big glass windows. At the aquarium she saw a school of fish, they were silver, so they caught her eye. Other than that, she didn't pay a lot of attention to the animals. She did seem to like the outing though. I had a good time, I even got to pet my favorite animal, Scooter, the armadillo. Did you know armadillos are hairy on their underside? Yep, they have hair on their legs, belly, and face. I always learn something new at the zoo. I look forward to taking Mylie on many more trips to the zoo.

The rest of these pictures are from today, as you can see, Mylie can sit up with assistance. You can also see she isn't lacking toys.

I have been teaching Mylie some simple sign language, like the signs for the words cat and milk. Within the last few days she has started to sign the word milk in response to me asking her if she wants milk. This makes knowing if she's hungry a lot easier. Although she can't yet sign the word cat, she does understand it when I sign the word cat. It's exciting to see her learning to communicate in this way.

Growing, growing, growing. Yesterday Mylie had her six month check up. She now weighs 16 pounds, 14 and a half oz and is 26 3/4 inches tall. She is in the 75th percentile for her weight and somewhere between the 75th and 90th percentile for her height. She's a big girl. : ) She is now eating peas and will be trying avocado in a couple days. Mylie had four shots and of course did not like that part at all, neither did her mom or dad. Karin, our pediatrician, says Mylie has a slight flat spot at the back of her head. She explained that because now babies are put to sleep on their backs that this is very common. She then asked us if we wanted a helmet. Eric and I looked at each other and then asked "for what?" Apparently some parents put helmets on their babies to help reshape their babies' heads. She explained that this is only for vanity. Eric and I both couldn't imagine putting a helmet on our baby girl unless it was absolutely needed, so we declined. After all, I don't see her going bald anytime soon. :)
Mylie and I are planning her first trip to the zoo tomorrow. I hope to take lots of pictures to share with you. I think she'll really like all of the animals. After all, she seems to love staring at our cat.
